The Crow Road ?? I finally got round to visiting the British Library Newspaper Annex at Colindale and came across the following item:-
The Cowdenbeath & Lochgelly Times & Advertiser (Wed Nov 20 1895)
ONE BY ONE THE OLD FAMILIAR FACES DEPART
Nearly everybody in Lochgelly will have seen the old crow that has lived in Plantation Street for the past 14 years, and they will be sorry to hear of its death, which took place the other day. Somehow or other a rat got into the box where it slept and killed it. Perhaps it made a noble stand for its life. We don't know, but we may add that the rat was sent the same road as the crow, for it was caught while making a grand feast of its spoils. |

The Burns Connection A connection to Robert Burns has always been talked of in the family. Research shows that this is true albeit by filial association! My 3xgreat grandfather's brother married the great grand daughter of Robert Burns. Elizabeth Burns was the daughter of Robert Burns and Elizabeth Paton a servant girl in his parents household at Lochlea. This may be of interest to researchers into the Hugh families of Auchterderran, I have included some details in the section Ancestors Burns |
